On August 25, 1975, the admission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to the Non-aligned Movement (NAM) met with a unanimous approval of the NAM member states in Lima, the capital city of Peru. Over the last five decades since this historic day, the DPRK has waged a vigorous struggle for global peace and genuine international justice under the banner of independence, peace and friendship true to the noble spirit and ideal of NAM.
Today, the NAM has strengthened and developed into a powerful forces fighting for independence against imperialism and an internationally-recognized political forces. Such outcome is attributed to the wise leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il , world-renowned veteran statesmen and great saints of the cause for world independence.
President Kim Il Sung paid deep attention to the strengthening and development of the NAM. Having read the desires of the people in the developing countries aspiring after independence, he elucidated a scientific way forward for the NAM with his great ideological and theoretical wisdom.
In every period and at every stage of struggle for independence against imperialism, President Kim Il Sung set forth strategic and tactical guidelines for strengthening and developing the movement such as the immortal classical work ”Non-Aligned Movement Is a Mighty Anti-imperialist Revolutionary Force of Our Times”, and energetically led the NAM member states to firmly adhere to the principle of independence against imperialism in the international arena.
Chairman Kim Jong Il smashed the imperialists’ attempts to divide and disintegrate the NAM, put forth ways to expand and develop the Movement along the road of independence, and sincerely supported the non-aligned countries in their efforts to build new societies.
President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il receive boundless reverence and admiration of the world for the immortal exploits and outstanding contributions to the strengthening and development of the NAM and the realization of the cause for independence of the humanity. They shall live forever in the hearts of the world progressive people.
The member states of the NAM should continue to further strengthen unity, cooperation and solidarity under the ideals of independence against imperialism and peace against war, while opposing high-handedness, arbitrariness, aggression and interference of the supremacy-seeking forces.
