China reiterated its firm stance against the US threat of tariff.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China recently expressed the stand to firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests in response to the US president’s threat to impose 200% tariff on Chinese goods unless China increases the export of rare-earth to the U.S., saying that the latter has more leverages over the former on trade.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson categorically rejected the U.S. sanctions imposed on Chinese ports on the pretext of facilitating the transportation of Iranian oil, calling it as unilateral illicit sanctions that have no basis in the international law.
Urging the U.S. to abandon its wrong practice of arbitrarily resorting to sanctions, the spokesperson stressed that China will do what is necessary to safeguard the lawful rights and interests of its companies and citizens.
