Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, sent a message of greeting to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People’s Republic of China, on October 1.

The message said:

Comrade General Secretary,

I extend warm congratulations to Comrade General Secretary and, through you, to the Communist Party of China, the government of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese people on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea, the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and all the Korean people, on the occasion of the 76th founding anniversary of the PRC.

Over the past 76 years since the founding of new China, the Chinese people have achieved noticeable successes in the struggle for defending the sovereignty of the country and its territorial integrity and building a modern socialist state, resolutely overcoming all challenges and trials under the leadership of the CPC.

We are convinced that the Chinese people will, in the future, too, firmly unite around the CPC with Comrade General Secretary as its core and continue to open up a new phase of vigorous and dynamic state development, thus surely winning a brilliant victory in the historic long journey for realizing the dream of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The DPRK-China friendship provided by the leaders of the elder generations of the two countries has been steadily consolidated and developed generation after generation and from one century to the next, overcoming all the tempests of history in the joint struggle for the cause of socialism.

The commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, which were held magnificently and in splendour as a grand political festival in Beijing on September 3, marked an important occasion which clearly demonstrated the overall national power and international position of the PRC.

It is the steadfast stand of our Party and the government of our Republic to steadily develop in depth the traditional DPRK-China friendship no matter how the international situation may change.

The DPRK side has a willingness to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to further strengthen and develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the DPRK and China as required by the new era and in line with the aspirations of the peoples of the two countries, and defend peace and stability in the region and the rest of the world through the close strategic communication and cooperation.

I wish the PRC prosperity and the Chinese people happiness.
