Pyongyang, October 11 (KCNA) -- A state reception was given at the Mokran House on Oct. 10 to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, attended the reception.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, Choe Ryong Hae and Jo Yong Won, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., WPK, and other leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs, chief secretaries of the provincial Party committees, senior officials of ministries and national agencies, and relevant officials in the foreign affairs sector.

The veteran cadres who had worked for a long time in important posts of the Party, government and armed forces organs were on hand.

Present there on invitation were heads and figures of foreign parties and governments, members of the delegations of different countries and international democratic organizations, foreign guests and heads of congratulatory groups and delegations of overseas compatriots on their visit to the DPRK to take part in the celebrations of the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK.

When the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un appeared at the reception hall, all the participants welcomed him with warm applause of respect.

Jo Yong Won made a speech at the reception.

Upon authorization of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Jo Yong Won warmly welcomed foreign goodwill envoys and overseas compatriots who visited Pyongyang to celebrate the auspicious holiday together.

The speaker said that the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK is the culmination of victory and glory provided by the WPK, which has been faithful to the historic mission as the guide of the Juche revolution for realizing independence of the popular masses, and the people boundlessly devoted to accomplishing the cause of the Party. He referred to the great honor and pride of our Party recollecting and reviewing its long course it has followed from one century to the next and its exploits as a history of struggle in which it has shared joy and sorrow with the people.

Our Party is enjoying absolute support and trust from all the Korean people as it has laid an eternal foundation and base for the everlasting dignity and well-being of our people and their descendants, not allowing any other programme or mode of activities except devoted service to the people, he said, adding that the key to victory and future is to value history and tradition and firmly preserve and develop them.

The speaker stressed that our Party would always be faithful to the socialist cause which it has carried out for the good of the people together with the people and at the head of the people and continue to courageously struggle for the fresh and brilliant inheritance and completion.

Jo Yong Won affirmed that our Party is greatly encouraged by the sincere support of the close friends who love justice and support our cause and that it would make responsible efforts to ensure close solidarity and keep pace with each other in realizing the common goal for independence and peace.

All the participants toasted to the peace and well-being of our people and the world people.

The banquet proceeded in an amicable atmosphere full of friendship and fraternity. -0-
