There is the Chongnyu People's Open-Air Ice Rink on the bank of the River Taedong in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The ice rink consists of an ice sports hall, skate stand, waiting and resting room for players, clinic, broadcasting room and observing room. School youth and children and working people can play ice sports of different events such as staking, ice hockey, figure skating and speed skating in the ice rink all the year round.
One day in November 2012, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Chongnyu People's Open-Air Ice Rink just before its inauguration.
In the ice sports hall, he saw the working people and children skating on the wide ice with an air of satisfaction.
Official Ryu Kyong Hui at the Chongnyu People's Open-Air Ice Rink said Kim Jong Un was very pleased at the fact that the working people and school youth and children came to skate in summer wearing short-sleeved shirts in the ice rink with advanced technology introduced, and continued:
"That day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un kindly said to the accompanying officials that it's better to lay rubber sheet on the passage between the dressing room and the rink rather than the plastic one and that on such plastic sheet people may slip when they go in and out of the rink wearing skates.
There is a claw-styled rubber sheet like a plastic one and it is convenient to put on skates on such one, he said and taught the way to solve the problem. His instruction was full of his warm love for the people."
Like this, Kim Jong Un had such wonderful mass sports base built and was so concerned about the people lest they should feel any inconveniences.
Today, too, a lot of working people and school youth and children visit the Chongnyu People's Open-Air Ice Rink to develop their physical strength.
