In recent years, many public leisure facilities have been built across the DPRK.
Art theatres and open-air theatres were renovated or newly built in all provinces.
Artistic performances and meetings are being held in those theatres as they are fully equipped with auditorium, stage and illumination facilities to satisfy the cultural and emotional needs of the people.
Riding clubs were newly built in North Phyongan Province and Nampho Municipality and then in Kanggye of Jagang Province and Sariwon of North Hwanghae Province to meet the leisure interests of the local people.
A zoo and park were newly built at the foot of Mt Pongnin in South Phyongan Province’s Phyongsong City, and a zoo was set up in the Oesan area of Jagang Province’s Kanggye City as suited to the characteristics of the mountainous area.
Meanwhile, aviation clubs, wading pools and other service facilities were built in different regions.
Aviation clubs with a full set of facilities for aerial sports training, dissemination of technology and other services were inaugurated in various regions including North Phyongan and North Hwanghae provinces.
Sahwang Peak, the highest peak of Mt Kuwol which is counted among the celebrated mountains in the country for its mysteriously-shaped peaks, dense forests, precipitous cliffs and clear and impressive waterfalls, has been transformed into a resort for the people’s cultural and leisure activities.
In addition, stadiums, gymnasiums, halls of culture, recreation grounds, bathing beaches and other bases for cultural and leisure activities have been built all over the country.
Particularly, the Kangdong County Leisure Complex was inaugurated in December last year as an excellent service provider with all necessary facilities such as cinema, library, e-reading room, restaurant, shop and tailor’s. The complex makes the people envision the future where they would enjoy a civilized and happy life to their heart’s content.
