Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Wang Yajun on February 12 hosted a reception at his embassy on the occasion of the lunar New Year's Day in 2026.

Present there at invitation were Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Mun Song Hyok, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Myong Ho, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, officials concerned and foreign diplomatic envoys and military attaches in Pyongyang and their wives.

Staff members of the Chinese embassy, Chinese guests staying in the DPRK and Chinese residents were on hand.

The participants watched a video dealing with the external revolutionary activities of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who attended the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and held a historic DPRK-China summit and talks.

Speeches were made at the reception.

The ambassador said that under the wise leadership of the WPK headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un the DPRK people celebrated the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK with splendour and successfully carried out all the tasks of the five-year plan set forth at the Eighth WPK Congress by dint of single-minded unity, thus making great progress in various fields.

It is the steadfast policy of the Chinese party and government to successfully defend, consolidate and develop the traditional China-DPRK friendly and cooperative relations, he said, expressing the will to thoroughly implement the important common understanding made by the top leaders of the two countries and thus advance the socialist cause of the two countries and defend the happiness of the two peoples and the regional peace and stability.

Kang Yun Sok noted that the bilateral relations reached a new stage of development with the historic DPRK-China summit meeting held in September last year as an occasion. And he expressed the will to make joint efforts with the Chinese comrades in order to develop the DPRK-China friendship in line with the noble intention of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries in the new year, too.

He congratulated the Chinese people on having splendidly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and fulfilled the 14th five-year plan. And he hoped that they would achieve new successes in the work for comprehensively building a modern socialist state under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary Xi Jinping as its core in this year marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

The participants toasted the health of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and the esteemed Comrade Xi Jinping and the steady development of the DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations.

Prior to the reception, they watched stunts introducing the traditional culture of the Chinese people.
