Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) — Boundless reverence for Chairman Kim Jong Il is pervading the whole DPRK in the run-up to his birthday in February.

The Chairman, who continued his long journey of devotion with his fervent love for the country and the people, was always on the road of field guidance for the people even on his birthday.

On February 16, 1969, he visited the then Wonhwa Cooperative Farm in Phyongwon County to teach officials the tasks and ways for turning the farm village into a model of modern rural villages. When told by officials that it was his birthday, he said that he didn’t like to celebrate his birthday. This story was recorded as a revolutionary anecdote titled “Hill Road of Wonhwa-ri”.

On his birthdays in 1974 and 1975, he gave detailed instructions on making good preparations for a national conference of industrial workers and watched a torchlight procession by members of the High-Speed Youth Shock Brigade at Kim Il Sung Square.

On his 40th birthday, he didn’t rest and inspected the then Moranbong Stadium undergoing a remodeling project. He told the accompanying officials to rename the stadium Kim Il Sung Stadium after the completion of the project.

On his birthday in 1984, he chaired a consultative meeting on improving the people’s standard of living and taught the ways to increase the production of various consumer goods.

When he received a report that workers of a factory were very pleased with chicken he sent after his inspection, he said that it was a happy day and he felt proud of his job requiring painstaking efforts. And he encouraged officials to do better things for the people and started his new work again. That day was his first birthday in the new century.

On his birthday in 2009, he was on his train journey for improving the people’s living standards. He told the accompanying officials at that time that he had been on the train for two months since the end of 2008 to inspect various sectors of national economy. This tells about the exploits of the benevolent father and peerless patriot always remembered by the people.

The revolutionary career and great patriotic exploits of the Chairman, who dedicated himself to the country and the people with his ardent love and noble sense of responsibility for taking care of them, are shining brilliantly along with the sacred history of the nation’s development.
