Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- There are many hot springs good for the promotion of people's health and the treatment of diseases in all parts of the country, from the northern highlands to the plain areas.

The book on the natural treatment resources of the DPRK written by a research group of the Environmental Sanitation Institute under the Academy of Medical Science through an expedition to different parts of the country deals with detailed information on hot springs in our country.

According to the book, 60-odd hot springs are distributed across the country. Among them, there are 10-odd sulfurous springs including the Hwangjin Hot Spring in Myongchon County, North Hamgyong Province, and nearly 20 radon springs including the Talchon (Jongdal) Hot Spring in Samchon County, South Hwanghae Province, and others are chloride springs and hydrocarbonates springs.

Many hot springs across the country have very high effectiveness in treating diseases.

The Ryonggang Hot Spring in Onchon County, Nampho Municipality, is one of the hot springs with a high mineral content in our country. It contains bromine, iodine and other elements and is good for the treatment of hypertensives.

The hot springs in North Phyongan Province and Jagang Province, including Unsan, Sakju and Wonhung hot springs, are mostly hydrocarbonates, sulfurous and radon springs which are good for treating chronic gastritis, respiratory diseases, heart diseases and gynecopathy.

The Woegumgang Hot Spring in Kangwon Province is said to be suitable for the treatment of chronic gastritis and neuralgia as it promotes blood circulation, metabolism and desensitization.

North Hamgyong Province has more than 20 hot springs including Onpho, Myongchon and Sechon hot springs and Ryanggang Province Naegok and Paektu hot springs.

The hot spring areas famous from long time ago have been splendidly transformed under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea to provide the people with a better and happier life.

In particular, the Yangdok Hot Spring Resort was built in the hot spring area of Yangdok County, South Phyongan Province and the Onpho Working People's Holiday Camp in the Onpho hot spring area of Kyongsong County, North Hamgyong Province, contributing to the promotion of the people's health and their cultural and emotional life. -0-
