One day in October 2020, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the damage rehabilitation site in the Komdok area of South Hamgyong Province.
He took strong measures for rehabilitation and came to the site by train, travelling along the dangerous railways in the gorge where temporary piers had been built with cribs.
Looking round the construction site, he highly appreciated the builders, saying the quality of structures is high and that he can see they had been built with meticulosity and sincerity.
And he mounted Unnyong Hill which is one thousand and hundreds of metres above the sea level.
He said it seemed to lie heavy on his conscience to build new houses only for the flood victims and continued:
The rural construction shouldn't be carried out in the way of building new houses only when the old ones are damaged by natural disasters. It is necessary to set goals for regional construction in a planned way and carry them out under a long-range program.
Of course, it is true that the economic situation of the country is difficult. But the work to provide the people in the Komdok area with good dwelling houses brooks no delay, he added.
And he gave instructions on setting the rehabilitation project as the first stage and finishing it in quality and building 25,000 flats in the area as the second stage.
He put forward the task of making the master plan for construction of the Komdok area and stressed the need to select the site properly lest the people should worry with natural disasters and feel any inconvenience in their life and to design the exterior and interior of the dwelling houses well in reflection of their demands.
That day, he proposed building single-, low- and many-storied houses and high-rise apartment houses in the Komdok area in a harmonious way and gave an instruction on creating another model of regional construction by completely face-lifting the area.
Later, the Komdok area was completely changed.
A mountain gorge town, a city of civilization, was built in the area so wonderfully enough not to find its former appearance of tens of years under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Un who makes an uninterrupted journey of devotion to provide the people with greater happiness.
