March 8 International Women’s Day seems to be the day closely related to flowers.
On this day flowers and bouquets are prepared across the country for mothers, teachers and wives.
“Happy March 8 International Women’s Day!”
Families, workplaces and all other places resound with this greetings and lovely melodies in praise of women.
Among them is the song “Women Are Flowers” which reflects the happy lives of the Korean women.
The song, which was written by Kim Song Nam and composed by Ri Jong O in 1991, depicts the position the Korean women occupy in their families and society, and the role they play, in an impressive way.
It gives a vivid description of the great role the women play as wives, mothers and sisters as they do housework and take care of their children while engaging in social activities.
The ideological content of the lyrics is emotionally highlighted by a distinctive melody of bright and cheerful aspects.
The song is very popular among the Korean people for its true-to-life words and novel musical rendition.
It lauds women for bringing harmony and sweetness to homes and helping their husbands and children with their work while playing their part in pushing one of the two wheels of the revolution, and reflects the call of the times that they should always bring fragrance to the families, community and country like full-blown flowers.
In his letter to the participants in the Seventh Congress of the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea in June 2021, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that shouldering the heavy burdens of their families, the women and members of their union have supported their dear husbands and children to be faithful to the Party and the revolution and, in these days when their country is in difficulties, strived tenaciously to do one more thing for the benefit of the country, adding that their sincerity has added strength to our revolution on its advance in the face of difficulties.
The Korean women are enjoying such loving care and trust, and always working heart and soul in different parts of the country with one mind of patriotism. That is why the songs in praise of them are reverberating throughout the country.
