A spokesman for the Chinese defence ministry censured Japan for clamouring against the “threat from China”, while finding fault with China’s defence budget, at a press conference on March 18.
He said that Japan’s conduct is as good as a thief raising a hue and cry and is aimed at finding an excuse for realizing its wild ambition by stepping up the expansion of armament and war preparations.
What should be underlined is that Japan’s “defence budget” has increased consecutively for 14 years, its growth scope has reached over 60 percent in nearly five years and the country’s per capita “defence expenses” are over three times greater than China’s, he said.
The real threat to regional peace and stability is just Japan which tries desperately to free itself from the restraint of the “pacifist constitution” and pursues rearmament, while developing and deploying offensive weapons by transcending the confines of “exclusive defence”, he denounced.
He strongly urged Japan to stop insulting others, while turning black into white, and refrain from taking again the militaristic road of no return.
