Finals of National Inter-provincial Games-2026 held, 2026 Spring National Sports Festival closes

The finals of the National Inter-provincial Games-2026 and the closing ceremony of the 2026 Spring National Sports Festival took place at Kim Il Sung Stadium in Pyongyang on April 23.
Present there were Vice-Premier Pak Jong Gun, who is vice-chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee and chairman of the State Planning Commission, Choe Chang Hak, first deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, members of the National Sports Guidance Committee, officials concerned, sportspersons, participants in the national inter-provincial games and Pyongyang citizens.
First, the finals of the National Inter-provincial Games-2026 were held.
In the final matches of such events as leg-tied race and relay race, the players fully displayed the sports skills they had honed while conducting mass sports activities.
The final match of tug-of-war was held between the Pyongyang municipal team and the North Phyongan provincial team.
The Pyongyang team won the event.
In the award ceremony that followed, the standings of each event of the 2026 Spring National Sports Festival and the provincial standings of the National Inter-provincial Games-2026 were announced, a rotating trophy cup and new record medals were awarded to the organizations and players who proved successful, and prizes were awarded.
Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Il Guk declared the festival closed.
In the recent festival, 30 players set new national records in weightlifting, shooting, track and field and other events. Pyongyang Municipality won first place in total standings, with South Hamgyong Province coming second and North Hwanghae Province third in the National Inter-provincial Games-2026.
