The Unsan Paper Mill is in South Phyongan Province of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

It established the production process based on the paper-making technology and method of Korean style.

The Workers' Party of Korea has planned and promoted the work to establish a modern paper production process in each province, which can satisfy its own demand.

Unsan County was chosen as a model unit because it has a number of favourable conditions such as the supply of raw materials, fuel, electricity and industrial water.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave detailed guidance to the design and layouts of the structure so that the professional and functional character as a paper mill was ensured and selected the site for its construction.

He would specially emphasize the importance of the paper industry, saying it lasts even in the communist society and that the people's demand for paper will grow all the more along with the social development.

He sent powerful sci-tech forces and made able units manufacture paper production equipment. He took all other measures to calculate the production capacity from the viewpoint of optimization to ensure the long-term development. Saying that if fallen leaves readily available in our country are used in paper production, there will be no need to worry about the raw materials, he sent latest technical data concerning it.

Thanks to his energetic guidance, the construction of the Unsan Paper Mill was promoted with confidence from the beginning.

On December 3, 2025, Comrade Kim Jong Un called at the Unsan Paper Mill nearing inauguration.

He went round the mill in detail and stressed the need to set the standard of paper chromaticity properly, adding that the paper industry should be developed into an independent one which can ensure the sustained growth of production.

Looking at the multipurpose paper machine designed and manufactured by our scientists, he spoke highly of it.

On December 28, he visited the Unsan Paper Mill again and cut the inauguration tape.

That day, he said with satisfaction that it is a great success to establish the paper-making technology which can solve the paper issue, one of the problems the Party worries about most and awaits solution.

Judging the quality of paper, he noted that the mill is of great economic effectiveness and profitability.

With the inauguration of the Unsan Paper Mill built under the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Jong Un, another new realm was opened up in putting the regional industry on an advanced basis and further enriching the material and cultural life of the regional people.

In the future, paper mills will be built across the country on the basis of the experience gained in the construction and operation of the Unsan Paper Mill to contribute to the material and cultural life of the people.
