“As the DPRK’s hydrogen bomb test and satellite launch were the exercise of legitimate and independent rights and just measures of a sovereign state, they are not the matter for Japan to pick a quarrel with,” said the special investigation committee of the DPRK in its statement released on February 12.
The statement came after the Japanese government on February 10 decided to apply its own sanctions first independently of the UN’s anti-DPRK sanctions on the pretext of its H-bomb test and satellite launch.
They would reportedly include additional sanctions to expand the scope of targets of restrictions on visits and remittance and freezing of fund, as well as setting in motion again the sanctions Japan had lifted in parts according to the DPRK-Japan inter-governmental agreement made in Stockholm in May 2014.
The Abe government’s reversion to the already lifted sanctions and imposition of additional sanctions constitute a declaration of the abrogation of the Stockholm agreement by itself, the statement said.
As Japan revealed its sinister intention to drive DPRK-Japan relations into a catastrophe and confront the DPRK to the last, it clarified the country’s following just stand:
First, it will totally suspend comprehensive and full-scale survey of all Japanese it has conducted in line with the DPRK-Japan inter-governmental Stockholm agreement from February 12 2016 and disband the special investigation committee.
Second, more resolute countermeasures will follow against Japan’s provocative anti-DPRK hostilities.
