Taking advantage of the chaotic south Korean political situation, political profiteers coveting the next presidency are now striving to gain the upper hand.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is one of them.
In order to form an independent political force centring on his native North Chungchong Province, he reportedly organized a group of supporters with an eye to the presidential election while rallying assemblymen of his place and the followers of former prime minister Kim Jong Phil. The “all-people movement headquarters calling on Ban to run for presidency” has launched a signature campaign.
His aides advertise that he would not go to the forsaken ruling party nor become the saviour of “ill conservatives” in a bid to cover up the tie-up with Park Geun Hye.
Once an informally designated candidate for the presidential election for Saenuri’s pro-Park camp, Ban had rendered political support to Park by turning his position to advantage.
His chameleonic behaviour is shameful.
