Ryomyong Street is being landscaped with trees and lawns at a fast pace.
The street landscaping has its own distinctive features.
It has three times wider areas for greening than Mirae Scientists Street, and trees, lawns and bushes are to be planted on the roofs and walls of public and apartment buildings. Apricot, peach and other fruit trees will be planted around the apartment houses and ever-green conifers and azalea, royal azalea and other flowering shrubs around the 70-storey and other high-rise apartment buildings to make it more attractive. A total of over 70 flower beds and stands will also be built.
A campaign has already been launched in a planned fashion to cover Ryomyong Street with flowers and lush green vegetation before the Day of the Sun (April 15).
The ministries of Urban Management and Land and Environment Protection are in charge of the supply of tree saplings and many units are also helpful to securing flowering shrubs and trees of good species. In particular, the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute under the State Academy of Sciences is making preparations at the final stage to supply well over a hundred thousand flowers including full-blown roses to be planted on Ryomyong Street from early April.
Turf planting is now in full swing.
The Pyongyang Municipal People’s Committee supervises the planting and cultivation of over 170 000 square metres of the turf.
The Turf Research Branch of the State Academy of Sciences and other scientific research institutes are engaged in introducing latest scientific and technological achievements that are helpful to ensuring its scientific and artistic landscaping.
