“The US should be prudent and practice self-control, keeping in mind that if it persists in the anti-DPRK smear campaign while unreasonably picking a quarrel with the DPRK over the human rights issue, it will pay dearly for all the consequences,” said the chief of the information department of the Institute of American Studies of the DPRK Foreign Ministry in a statement on February 15.
The statement came as the US is intensifying an anti-DPRK smear campaign while linking the death of American student Otto Frederick Warmbier to the DPRK again.
According to the statement, Warmbier is a criminal who was sentenced to a penal servitude pursuant to the DPRK law on March 16 2016 on apparent charges of having committed hostility toward the DPRK on a mission assigned by an American organization against the DPRK.
It is the current US administration that should answer why he died suddenly in less than a week after returning to the US with all his vital signs being normal, it said.
Though he was a criminal, the DPRK granted the request of the current US administration and returned him home from a humanitarian point of view according to the judgment of the Central Court on June 13 2017 in consideration of his poor health, it noted.
However, the Trump clan is intentionally stoking up the anti-DPRK smear campaign over his death, it said, adding it is an expression of their crafty trick to justify the attempt to stifle the DPRK by force by tarnishing its international image and finding an excuse for intensifying the international pressure campaign, awestruck by the might of the DPRK which has risen to the status of a strategic nation.
