Korea Space Association Organized in DPRK

Pyongyang, June 27 (KCNA) -- The Korea Space Association came into being in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, commencing its operation.

    The association is a non-governmental organization that groups scientists and technicians, university teachers and researchers engaged in the field of space technology and its application.

    Its mission is to promote the peaceful development and utilization of space, a wealth common to mankind, through brisk academic exchanges at home and abroad.

    According to its Chairman Ri Won Chol, vice-president of Kim Chaek University of Technology, the association will sponsor the seminar on space science and technology-2016 in November as its first action program.

    He said:

    The theme of seminar, to be held divided into space materials and elements, basic science, applied technology, social science and other sections, is "The Building of Civilized Socialist Power and the DPRK's Space Science and Technology".

    Presented to it will be papers on the validity and vitality of the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government for the peaceful space development, the interpretation of home and foreign space-related laws and the technology of computer-aided analysis into satellite images on natural disasters, forest distribution, crop harvest and fishing-ground situation.

    Ri expressed the association's willingness to closely cooperate with space-related international bodies and aerospace organizations of other countries on the principles of equality, reciprocity and mutual replenishment and perfection. -0-
