Kim Jong Un, chairman of the DPRK State Affairs Commission, sent a message of congratulation to Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 12.
He, in the message, extended warm congratulations and greetings to the president, government and people of the Russian Federation on its national day on behalf of the government and people of the DPRK.
Today the strong and diligent Russian people are making great achievements in their efforts to build a powerful and prosperous Russia while bravely overcoming all the challenges and difficulties under the energetic leadership of President Putin, and the DPRK government and people are sincerely pleased with them, he said.
The first meeting between you and me in Vladivostok, the beautiful port city of the Russian Federation, in April was a meaningful and important occasion for building a sincere and close relationship between us and opening a new history of the DPRK-Russia friendship as required by the changing international situation and the times, he said, adding he was very satisfied with it.
It is our common responsibility for the times and history to lift the precious long-standing tradition of friendship which was carried on generation after generation to a higher stage, he noted.
He expressed the firm belief that the common understanding and agreements made at their first significant meeting would bear rich fruits, bolstering up the strategic and traditional DPRK-Russia friendship provided by the preceding leaders.
