“While the year-end time limit is coming nearer, the US continues to raise the level of its provocation against us,” a DPRK Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday.
Such remarks came after US State Secretary Pompeo urged the DPRK to thoroughly implement the UN’s sanctions resolution on Tuesday. The following day the US spearheaded an open meeting of the UN Security Council, where it accused the DPRK again of its self-defensive arms programme.
It is a wanton violation of the principle of respect for sovereignty enshrined in the UN Charter that the UNSC committed to protect global peace and security found fault with the measures taken by a sovereign state for self-defence, the spokesman said. This provides another supporting evidence that the UNSC is no more than a political tool of the US for its own interests, he added.
“We will never overlook the anti-DPRK atmosphere the US has created by chairing the open UNSC meeting about the DPRK at this sensitive time.
“Such argument that they are allowed to launch an ICBM at any time and we are disallowed to conduct a universal arms test only illustrates the outrageous nature of the US which seeks to disarm us completely.”
The US talks about dialogue more often than not, the spokesman said, adding that it is so evident the US has nothing to present to the DPRK though dialogue may open.
Referring to the US’ "corresponding measure" at the UNSC meeting, he held that as already declared, the DPRK have nothing to lose any more and it is ready to respond in kind to anything the US opts for.
