Efforts are made in the DPRK to solve the issue of electricity by actively developing and using the natural energy.
Diverse energy resources have been mobilized in their local areas and as a result, the capacity to generate more than 100,000 kilowatts of natural energy created in different parts.
Pyongyang City has established a systematic parallel solar light generating system at scores of units and introduced the independent solar light generating system into more than 2,000 units, creating the generating capacity by solar energy more than planned.
The city has pushed ahead with the work to increase electric power generation by wind force and organic matter.
A number of units in South Hwanghae Province are producing and supplying electricity necessary for production, business activities, science and education by themselves using the solar energy. Unchon and Unryul Counties are creating hundreds of kilowatts of generating capacity with wind-driven generators according to the actual conditions of the counties rich in wind power resources.
South Phyongan, North Hwanghae and North Phyongan Provinces are steadily expanding the power-generating sphere and capacity through development and use of natural energy.
