The Korean Association of Beekeepers was founded in July Juche 81 (1992) as a non-permanent organization comprising scientists, technicians in the sector of bee-culture and beekeepers.
It sets it as its mission to contribute to improving the people’s standard of living by developing bee-farming.
The association has several departments for sci-tech dissemination, analysis and examination of honey, survey of bee plants, beekeeping management, bee-farming appliances and facilities, prevention of bee diseases, processing of bee products, etc.
It has a branch in each province.
It organizes meetings for swapping experience, shows and technical workshops 1 to 2 times every year.
The national technical workshop and show in the sector of bee-farming held in November last year served as a good opportunity for enhancing the level of apiarian techniques of beekeepers and contributing to the improvement of the people’s living standards and promotion of their health by diversifying bee products and improving their quality.
The association conducts scientific and technical exchanges with its foreign counterparts and international organizations.
“Our country has favourable natural and geographical conditions for bee-farming. We will encourage people to do beekeeping and give wide publicity to sci-tech knowledge to further develop apiculture,” said Paek Tal Hyon, chairman of the Korean Association of Beekeepers.
