“Paektusan University”, “self-prosperity” and “Yes, sir!” were the buzzwords in the DPRK last year.

As Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un climbed up snow-covered Mt Paektu on horseback for the second time last year, he referred to the need to get much education through the study tour of revolutionary battle sites in order to learn about the ideas of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the revolutionary idea and the indefatigable revolutionary spirit of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It is particularly important for the commanding officials of the revolution to attend “Paektusan University” through the study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in Mt Paektu in order to thoroughly prepare and arm themselves to be sound and competent political activists taking after the great leaders, he added.

In response to his call, all Koreans are now eager to go to the sacred mountain of the revolution following in his footsteps.

The study tour parties trace the footsteps of anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners to acquire their strong faith and will and bear in mind the ardent patriotism and revolutionary optimism of the fighters who pictured a liberated motherland as they slept on snow.

The other buzzword is “self-prosperity”.

Having set forth the slogan “Let us open a new road of advance for socialist construction under the uplifted banner of self-reliance!” in his New Year Address for 2019, the Supreme Leader energetically led the all-people onward march of self-reliance.

Though the country was still in a tough situation last year due to the hostile forces’ persistent moves to stifle it, the Korean people waged a resolute struggle for expanding and strengthening the foundations of the independent economy and achieving prosperity by dint of self-reliance.

Factories and enterprises all across the country focused on the modernization of production lines and the improvement of products’ quality and upgraded their entrepreneurial and business strategies to increase output.

The competition between provinces, cities and counties in local economic development and improvement of people’s livelihood and the successive expos in various sectors including the 11th Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 commodity exhibition and the 2019 Pyongyang Children’s Department Store children’s goods show gave the people renewed confidence in that domestic products and “self-prosperity” are best.

Every site where a golden age of construction was ushered in resounded with the reply of “Yes, sir!” throughout the year.

As they responded only with “Yes, sir!” when they were assigned huge construction tasks by the Workers’ Party of Korea, service personnel of the Korean People’s Army completed the projects of Samjiyon City, Yangdok Hot Spring Resort and Jungphyong vegetable greenhouse farm and tree nursery at the highest level to be flawless even in the distant future.
