Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- Sixty-five years have passed after the birth of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), an overseas citizens' organization of the DPRK.

The history of Chongryon is that of brilliant victory of the Juche-based idea of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un on the overseas compatriots' movement and their distinguished guidance.

The President penetrated in a scientific way into the source and essence of the issue of Korean residents in Japan and set forth the line that the overseas compatriots movement should be a national patriotic movement conducive to their homeland's revolution from the standpoint of Juche, though it is conducted in a foreign land.

Thanks to his clear-cut idea of national independence and patriotic will, Chongryon could be formed on May 25, Juche 44 (1955).

The Chairman had led the movement of Koreans in Japan to advance along the road of Juche and patriotism. He made public such famous works as "Chongryon Should Continue to Add Luster to Its Honor of Being the Pioneer in the Juche-oriented Movement of Overseas Compatriots" and "On Developing the Movement of Koreans in Japan onto a New, Higher Stage" to enrich the treasure house of the Juche-based idea and theory on the overseas compatriots' movement.

Chongryon and the movement of Koreans in Japan have made a victorious advance along the road of Juche, ushering in a new heyday of their development under the guidance of the Supreme Leader.

The Supreme Leader sent his letter "Let Us Usher in a New Golden Age of the Movement of Koreans in Japan True to the Intention of the Great Comrade?Kim Jong Il" to Chongryon and the Koreans in Japan on the occasion of its 60th anniversary. In the letter he indicated the path to be followed by Chongryon and the movement of Koreans in Japan and their strategic goal in the new century of Juche.

His benevolent care serves as a powerful force propelling the steady progress of the movement of Koreans in Japan and as a nutriment inciting patriotism, implanting deeper in the mind of the Chongryon officials and other Korean residents in Japan the truth that the socialist homeland of Juche is the great care looking after the nation's destiny and future in a responsible manner.

Chongryon is now vigorously pushing forward the movement of Koreans in Japan, as a powerful organization closely united with the great Juche idea and deeply rooted in the broad masses of compatriots.

Chongryon is pride of the DPRK as it has steadily carried forward the tradition of loyalty, single-minded unity and patriotism for many years, contributing to the national historic cause.
