Pyongyang City is developing and making an effective use of the natural energy.
Systematic parallel generating system was established at tens of units and independent photovoltaic generating system introduced into many units and families, creating nearly 10,000-kilowatt photovoltaic generating capacity in the city. Production of electricity by natural energy keeps increasing.
In Central District, a systematic parallel photovoltaic power plant jointly managed by over 100 units has been built in the district of the Rungna People's Pleasure Ground with good condition of sunshine and wide area, increasing the generating capacity more than two times as against before.
The Taesongsan Spring Water Factory, the Pyongyang City Foodstuff Complex and many other units have created the generating capacity by solar energy by themselves and are making an active use of electricity in production and business activities.
They have established systematic parallel generating system organically combined with the state power network, giving a help to the electric power generation of the country.
Development of new energy resources is promoted as well.
More than 10 units in the city including the Hyongjesan Foodstuff Factory and the Tudan Duck Farm are benefiting from the power production system by rice chaff and methanization.
Ryokpho District has built a new small hydropower station by the Mujin Stream to produce electricity for cage fish culture by itself. And the construction of small hydropower stations by streams is promoted in Ryongsong, Taesong and Hyongjesan Districts and Kangdong County.
