Sonhung, Taeha, Mindulle, Sonamu, Maebongsan and Pomhyanggi are the most popular local brands in the DPRK.
The foodstuffs and commodities with these brands on them are associated with the devotion of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who put his heart and soul into providing the people with a highly-civilized life.
He indicated the tasks and ways for developing the country’s light industry at the national conference of light industry in March 2013, and gave field guidance at many light industrial factories.
Visiting the Pyongyang Corn Processing Factory, Pyongyang Children’s Foodstuff Factory, Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory and other food production bases, he guided them to turn out better products with domestic raw materials and technologies.
At the Ryongaksan Soap Factory, he instructed that liquid soap should be mass-produced from locally-available materials and, at the Pyongyang Hosiery Factory and Wonsan Leather Shoes Factory, he called for making their products more qualitative and attractive and diverse so as to win public favour. Looking round the Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory, he called on the workers to provide the people with world-class cosmetics made with domestic materials and specified the ways to achieve that goal.
