In last August, a campaign for the recovery from the flood damage was in full swing in Taechong-ri, Unpha County, North Hwanghae Province. One day, a medical worker took an old man native to the village to a tent marked with a red cross emblem.
He was an ophthalmologist. He tested the old man’s eyesight and advised him to have a surgical operation. The old man, who followed the former, not knowing exactly why, declined the advice. Noting that it was not a big problem for him to have got a slight hurt in the eyes in such a difficult time, he added he could not give troubles to the medical workers making devoted efforts for the health of flood victims.
But, the doctor insisted on his advice, saying that it is the intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea to take good care of the living of flood victims.
As a result, the old man had an operation in the tent put up in the reconstruction site.
Witnessing the benevolent measures taken by the WPK in succession for the sake of flood victims, he shed tears of gratitude.
