One evening in September 2017 an ambulance entered the compound of Hamhung City People’s Hospital, blowing its horn.

The patients were 4 workers in a machine factory, who got burnt unexpectedly during their work.

Over 40% of their bodies including faces and airways were in the second- and third-degree burn and their pulses were hardly guessed. The patients were in a comatose state due to burn shock. They were in a critical condition. If patients with such a serious case fail to free soon from the state of shock, their recovery is impossible. Treatment was given immediately to recover the patient’s consciousness. A first-aid treatment team was formed with a vice-director in charge of techniques and medical workers in limb surgery. Nights went on, but treatments were made with drip, cardiotonic and sedative and pain-killer.

Next morning, the news that the burnt workers from the machine factory entered the hospital spread over the hospital. At the meeting of hospital staffs, the director said… At present, the patients are in the most serious conditions. However, miracle will be created if we make selfless and devoted service for them with the Party’s intention deep in minds. They are the workers whom the Party treasures so much. Let us make them have a complete recovery.

All staffs responded to the director’s ardent call. At the meeting, a powerful treatment group was formed with capable medical workers in the hospital.

Scientific and innovative treatment tactics were mapped out at the repeated consultative meetings and new treatment methods introduced. While they were active in treatment, the vice-director in charge of medicines and his members sat up all night to provide with necessary medical supplies.

The medical workers made every possible effort day and night. Tens of clyses and injections of different kinds were used to treat them.

One patient recovered consciousness after another thanks to devotions of the medical workers.

However, it was just a start of the treatment. It usually took 3-4 hours to treat one patient. More efforts should be made to find a blood vessel in order to stick a needle on his destroyed skin.

Doctors and nurses got their clothes wet to disencumber the patients from pain. The patients got better thanks to devotion of the medical workers.

The nurses sat up with the patients and a lot of people brought tonics and foods of different kinds needed in recovery encouraging them. As a result, a miracle was created. The workers were restored to life and they could continue their work at the factory.
