Pyongyang, December 31 (KCNA) -- Millions of party members, other people and service personnel of the People's Army are looking forward to the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) to be held in Pyongyang as an important event of special record in the sacred path of the revolutionary cause of Juche which is vigorously advancing under the uplifted banner of the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

Since they heard the historic decision on holding the 8th Congress of the WPK, all the people have been out for ushering in a new period of a great surge and turn in the revolution by inheriting the tradition of loyalty characterized by great revolutionary upswings that glorified the Party congresses.

Amid the elated spirit of all the people to greet the 8th Congress of the Party with high political zeal and brilliant labor feats, preparations for the Party Congress have made headway.

Conferences of the WPK organizations at all levels took place in December.

The conferences comprehensively reviewed the work done by relevant Party organizations in the period under review, based on the idea and spirit of the 6th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the WPK and elected new leadership organs.

Provincial Party conferences and conferences of party organizations that assume the same function as the provincial Party committee, including the Party committees of the Korean People's Army, the Cabinet, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Culture and the Capital City Construction Commission elected the Party members who would play the core, leading role in the struggle for implementing the decision to be made at the 8th Party Congress as delegates to the Party Congress, and nominated observers.

Delegates to the 8th Party Congress arrived in Pyongyang late in December amid the warm welcome by citizens.

The delegates started the technical preparations for the Congress with a high sense of responsibility and great honor of attending the Party Congress, the supreme guidance organ of the WPK, on behalf of their party organizations.

During the period of preparations, the delegates watched the documentary films such as "Five Years of Great Leadership that Brought about Victory and Change" which helps recollect the glorious and worthwhile days of creating a new history of great change under the energetic leadership of the Party Central Committee.

A national photo, book and art exhibition opened at the Korean Art Gallery to mark the 8th Party Congress impressively shows the immortal history of revolutionary activities of our Party and the history of the struggle of the heroic people who have followed the Party.

The preparations for the 8th Party Congress are successfully underway amid the profound interest and expectations of the whole country. -0-
