The beats of Korean music are an important means of expressing national characteristics and emotion.
They consist of time pattern, rhythm type, speed, modulation and other elements.
Each beat is formed as its elements are combined in various ways to have a certain expressive character.
Therefore, the beats themselves can express various feelings including a vibrant and militant spirit.
There are various main beats in Korean music that are classified in the light of speed (jungmori, jajunmori and hwimori), emotion (jinyangjo), musical life in which the beats are used (kutkori and salphuri), form of composition of the beats (todori) and by naming after the titles of songs (tharyong and yangsando) and the modulation of the beats (tongdokkhung).
Along with the main beats, there are subsidiary, mixed and modulated beats according to the partial change in speed and type of rhythm.
In musical practice, these beats represent various and rich musical emotions.
The lyrical features of beats get more vivid when they are combined with certain tunes.
According to experts, the beats of Korean music are characterized by a long history and diversity and delicacy in kind and mood.
