The 12th Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea took place through the video conference system on March 4.
It was attended by members and alternate members of the UAWK Central Committee.
Present there as observers were UAWK officials in Pyongyang and other parts of the country.
The meeting discussed the issue of devotedly implementing the first-year tasks under the five-year plan set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
And the issue of further intensifying the struggle against anti-socialist and non-socialist practices throughout society was brought up for discussion.
Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the UAWK Central Committee, made reports on the agenda items.
The reporter seriously analyzed and reviewed the shortcomings of failing to map out the goals for this year in an innovative way and take revolutionary and positive measures for improving the work of the union, and raised practical issues arising in carrying out the first-year tasks under the five-year plan.
He said that all the UAWK organizations would wage a dynamic campaign for scientific farming and high-yield emulation with the main emphasis put on seed improvement, scientific farming, increased output in low-yielding fields and cultivation of new land, organize a powerful socialist emulation headquarters for increased agricultural production and enhance its sense of responsibility and role to the maximum.
He referred to the shortcomings revealed by the UAWK organizations and officials in their past struggle against anti-socialist and non-socialist practices, and lessons and their causes. And he referred to the tasks and ways for consolidating our single-hearted unity and politico-ideological position, class position in every way and preserving the original features of socialism.
Speeches were made at the meeting.
The meeting adopted relevant resolutions on the basis of suggestions made through in-depth study and discussion of draft resolutions on the agenda items.
