Sportspersons held a meeting at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street on March 5 to vow to glorify the first-year march for implementing the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea with proud achievements in sports events.
The meeting was attended by Kim Chun Sik, secretary general of the National Sports Guidance Committee, Kim Jang San, secretary general of the DPRK Football Association, Kim Myong Gun, chairman of the Korean Taekwon-Do Committee, other officials in the sports sector and sportspersons.
Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, delivered a report, to be followed by speeches.
The reporter and speakers said that the sports sector faces a weighty yet honourable task to steadily win more medals at international games by putting spurs to the development of sports techniques and powerfully promote socialist construction by further stimulating the sports enthusiasm across the country during the period of the new five-year plan.
They stressed the need to make a tangible contribution to making our dignified state rank among advanced sports nations by making achievements of patriotic loyalty at any cost in this year’s struggle for implementing the decisions of the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth WPK Central Committee.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting.
