Kim Jong Im, teacher at the Kaeson Kindergarten in Moranbong District affiliated to Pyongyang Teachers Training College, has been called a pioneer in bringing about an innovation in preschool teaching methods.
Her colleagues and kindergarteners’ parents call her a “woman born for education of children” and a “walking dictionary”.
With a 20-year-long career, she realized for the first time the mnemonics education in kindergarten conducive to comprehensively developing the intellectual faculties of children according to their gift and aptitude, thus stealing the limelight of the education circle.
In the course of studying and analysing the global trend of developing education and introducing it into practice, she created new intellectual education methods based on modern educational techniques such as computer and robot education to suit the age of children, and generalized them throughout the country. An education support program developed by her is now paying off in many units.
She has written Reference Book for Extracurricular Education and made 2 000 pieces of photos and picture cards helpful to improving children’s memory.
Some of her children ranked top at the Eighth Asian Children’s Art Exhibition and the 14th National Contest of Talented Kindergarteners.
“She distinguishes herself in producing many little prodigies,” said Song Mi Hyang, headmistress of the kindergarten.
Kim Jong Im was nominated as one of the top ten teachers of 2023.
