Health ministry official: State takes full responsibility for children’s health and future in DPRK

The director of the Research Institute for Nutrition Care of Children under the Academy of Medical Science of the Ministry of Public Health of the DPRK denounced hostile forces for abusing even the name of innocent children for political purposes in his statement published on Tuesday.

The statement came after a UN experts' group released a report containing the groundless information that many children suffering from malnutrition in the DPRK cannot receive proper treatment due to the national emergency infectious disease prevention measures taken to check the inroads of COVID-19.

He in his capacity as the director in charge of nutrition care of children in the DPRK dubbed their information an utterly baseless lie in his statement.

Saying that child health care is deemed a top priority in the DPRK although it is in a difficult situation and suffers shortage of everything, he asserted that the distortion of the reality of the country by those who style themselves experts under the berets of the UN cannot be construed otherwise than a dishonest act of hostility to tarnish the image of the DPRK. No matter how desperately the hostile forces may try, they will never be able to blot out the bright and cheerful looks of our children, he noted.

He warned the quasi-media of south Korea taking the lead in the anti-DPRK smear campaign by echoing rubbish-like information that they were committing a heinous crime of inciting inter-Korean confrontation.

He expressed his view that it is necessary to make a rigorous examination of whether "humanitarian cooperation" under the signboard of the UN and NGOs is genuinely helpful to the DPRK and take resolute countermeasures against the organizations that are in league with hostile forces.

He concluded that the state takes full responsibility for the health and future of children in the country.
