Japan’s history distortion reveals its ill intention

Date: 09/04/2021 | Source: Pyongyang Times | Read original version at source

On March 30, the Japanese Ministry of Education and Science published the results of examination of history textbook for senior middle schools which would be used from 2022.

This textbook, like the previous one, is full of contents distorting, whitewashing and rationalizing Japan’s history of aggression. It removed the criminal acts committed by the Japanese imperialists in the period of aggressive war and their colonial domination or expressed vaguely and claimed their sovereignty over Tok Islets. Worse still, it described the Japanese imperialists’ inroad into the Asian continent as “advance” that brought there “civilization” and “prosperity”.

Japan’s history distortion in the textbook reflects its trick to realize the old dream of the “Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere” at any cost by infusing the spectre of militarism into coming generations.

Japan, by setting overseas aggression as the essence of its external military strategy and an important political task, resorts to every means and way to this end.

What they attach the most important significance here is the infusion of the militaristic idea of aggression through the revision of history textbook for the worse.

After revising the organic law on education, Japan has attempted to distort history while changing the standard of examination for textbook and “guidelines for teaching at middle and high schools” to suit their taste.

Japan’s such provocative moves to seize others’ territories and visit the Yasukuni Shrine, which give rise to the anxiety and wariness of Asian countries, aim to lay a stepping stone for overseas aggression by reviving the historical view of militarism.

Japan is now hell-bent on perfecting the legal and institutional conditions for overseas advance of the Self-Defence Forces and overseas military operations and enhancing their combat efficiency.

It is a fait accompli that Japan, which is on a headlong rush to a military giant and overseas expansion, can be the spark of a new war in Asia.
