Since its foundation, the Workers’ Party of Korea has never separated from the people even for a moment, but advanced the revolution and construction by always relying on their strength with firm belief in them.

It is the WPK’s constant view that if there is any almighty being in the world, it is not god but the masses of the people.

For the WPK, the people’s demands and intentions are the starting point and standards in formulating lines and policies and the people-first principle is its eternal political idea and mode of politics.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un clarified that the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the guiding ideology of the WPK is, in essence, the people-first principle, and making selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people is the mode of existence of the Party, and further developed the WPK into a party that has struck roots deep in the minds of the people and devotedly fights only for realizing their demands and interests.

Under his leadership, slogans “Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!” and “Let the whole Party make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the great people!” became the basic guidelines in the Party’s activities.

The WPK has spared nothing to resolve the issues related to the people’s life and safety and the promotion of their well-being, regarding them as its most important affairs.

It ensured that all efforts of the state were channelled into providing residents with new homes when they were left homeless due to natural disasters and took superclass epidemic prevention measures to protect the people’s lives.

Ryomyong Street, Mirae Scientists Street, Ryugyong General Ophthalmic Hospital, Ryugyong Dental Hospital, modern bases for cultural and leisure activities and other structures were built on this land in a few years, and such miracles were the brilliant fruition of the WPK’s people-first politics.

The Eighth Congress of the WPK and the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Party which took place early this year unveiled the new five-year plan for improving the people’s livelihood by reenergizing the overall national economy and decided to push ahead with the construction of dwelling houses all across the country, while building apartment houses for 50 000 families in the capital city alone in the period, or 10 000 flats every year.

The WPK and the DPRK government identified the number of families in need of dwellings in Pyongyang, made sure that a large share of the total state construction budget was allocated for the construction of dwelling houses, regarding it as their most important task, and reaffirmed the architectural development plan and construction policy on the principle of thoroughly applying the people-first principle.

A ground-breaking ceremony of the project for building 10 000 flats in Pyongyang took place in the Songsin and Songhwa areas of Sadong District on March 23.

The Korean people faithfully follow the WPK, addressing it as “motherly Party”, as it spares nothing for the good of the people by setting people-first politics as the basic political mode of socialism.
