Saying that the number of people infected with COVID-19 in a week worldwide has nearly doubled over the past two months with its infection rate reaching the highest level since the outbreak of the pandemic, the director-general of the World Health Organization on April 16 said that it is mainly because many countries have failed to push anti-epidemic work perseveringly while loosening the anti-epidemic measures too early and the people have relaxed and stopped worrying about it, ignoring the anti-epidemic rules.
He underlined the need for the governments of all countries to take strict anti-epidemic steps such as medical observation and check-up, tracking of contacts and quarantine and maintain control of the people to ensure they abide by the anti-pandemic rules including public distancing, wearing of masks and hand washing.
