Kim Yo Jong, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, issued the following statement on May 2:
Most recently, "defectors from the north" committed an intolerable provocation in south Korea as they scattered leaflets against the DPRK again.
We have already seriously warned the south Korean authorities of the consequences for north-south relations to be entailed by their silent approval to the human scum’s wrongdoing.
This notwithstanding, the south Korean authorities winked at the reckless acts of the "northern defectors" and did nothing to stop them.
I can hardly repress my displeasure over such sordid acts.
We regard such move in the south as a serious act of provocation against our state and will look into a counteraction.
Whatever decision we make and whatever action we take, the south Korean authorities would be entirely held accountable for the consequences thereof as they failed to put the nasty pieces of work under control.
