Cartoon Songs and School with Little Singers

Date: 20/06/2021 | Source: Voice of Korea (EN) | Read original version at source

The Korean children like the songs from cartoons.  They like to sing those songs as the latter represents the interesting stories and their minds. They also treasure the memory of their childhood spent along with those songs.  The Ryulgok Senior Middle School in Songyo District is well-known for singing cartoon songs.  It is because almost all songs from the Korean cartoons were sung by students in the children's music class of the school.  Students in the class of the school sang the theme song of the cartoon "The Lazy Pig" for the first time in Juche 58(1969). Since then they have wonderfully sung almost 500 cartoon songs.  Many cartoon songs including "Beat Battle Drums" and "Dear Friend" sung by them are called favourites of the children.  Those songs sung by the children's music class of the school are characterized by individual yet rich emotion according to the idea of cartoons, clear and soft timbre giving freshness to the audience and good ensemble.  Merited Teacher Han Song Hui at the Children's Music Class of the Ryulgok Senior Middle School says:  "One day the great Kim Jong Il heard a song sung by a girl soldier who had left our school, during his field inspection of units of the People's Army. He highly praised her, saying she is from the school with little singers, which is good at singing cartoon songs.  Since then our school has been called a school with little singers."  The appellation was the great trust and valuable commendation shown by the great leader Kim Jong Il to the school.  Afterwards, too, Kim Jong Il sent musical instruments and vehicles to the school and paid deep attention to it so that it could keep glorifying the school with little singers.  Many "little singers" who were trained at the school with his love are distinguishing themselves as soloists loved by people at major art organizations of the country.  We can hear happy songs sung by "little singers" in the campus of the Ryulgok Senior Middle School in Songyo District.
