Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, exposed and denounced NATO’s aggressive record of performance in a press conference on June 15.
His statement came after NATO recently described China as a “threat” to international order and the security of NATO. He said that NATO appealed to its member nations to increase military expenditure on one side, and finds fault with the regular national defence and army modernization of China on the other side.
This is typical double standards, he said, adding that the Chinese military expenditure per capita is lower than global average indexes and that it falls short of one fifth of that of NATO.
Asserting that NATO has left a dirty record of performance in history and had disgraceful past, he denounced that NATO member nations started wars against Iraq, Syria and other sovereign states and committed indiscriminate bombing for 78 days in Yugoslavia.
