The respected Kim Jong Un sent an important letter "Let the Women's Union Become a Powerful Unit in Propelling the Advance and Development of Our style of Socialism" to the participants in the Seventh Congress of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea on June 20.  In the letter he said it is of great significance that the Seventh Congress of the Socialist Women's Union of Korea, a mass political organization of the Korean women, took place soon after the historic Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Congress of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea was held with success.  He sent warm congratulations in the name of the Party Central Committee, expecting that the congress which is held at the time when the socialist construction has entered an important phase would serve as an epochal occasion in having a new understanding of the position and duty of the Korean women's movement acting a part of the revolution and in preparing the women's union members as female revolutionaries loyal to the Party, the steadfast patriots.  He said:  The Korean women and women's union members performed remarkable merits before the country, the people and the rising generations with their ardent patriotic enthusiasm in the past unforgettable five-year struggle during which the Korean revolution brought about a rapid upswing, going through another period of trials and temper.  Every step that has enabled our country to proudly take the strategic position recognized by the world people and demonstrate its dignity and honour like today is associated with the devoted efforts and selfless backing of our tough-minded and pure women and women's union members. The Party Central Committee always remembers the laudable and wonderful women with beautiful minds. I send warm thanks to the entire Korean women.  It is the firm will of the Party Central Committee to go unflaggingly toward a new victory of socialism with full responsibility for the life of the people no matter how severe difficulties may be in our way and thus provide our people, our women, best in the world with better future and a stabilized and happy life without any worry. To this end, the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee put forward crucial policies for possibly fast development of socialist construction in the most difficult circumstances and took decisive measures to solve the urgent problems our people, the women, are concerned about and desire.  At such difficult time as now the entire people should be more firmly united around the Party and display the revolutionary spirit peculiar to the Korean revolution and the fighting spirit of self-reliance and fortitude while cultivating the unyielding fighting spirit and faith, not a vague expectation or a hope. Then, we will  enjoy prosperity and happiness of the new era opened by the Eighth Party Congress.  The Women's Union should extraordinarily enhance its militancy and arouse all its members to implementing the major decisions of the Party Congress and the Party Central Committee in the decisive turning point of the Korean revolution, invigorating the advancing revolution and powerfully propelling the present all-people general march.  The main task of the women's union organizations at present is to train all the women's unionists as genuine women revolutionaries and ardent patriots who are firmly prepared politically and morally and devote themselves to the patriotic work for socialism.  The Socialist Women's Union of Korea should establish the ideological and spiritual backbone of loyalty and patriotism among all its members and arouse their revolutionary zeal to the maximum to powerfully demonstrate the might of the Korean women's movement.  The Women's Union organizations should direct great efforts to the ideological work for enhancing the political consciousness of the women's unionists. Enhancing the political consciousness of the women's unionists is an essential and primary process in preparing them as genuine female revolutionaries devoting themselves to prosperity and development of the large socialist family, not to the happiness of their families alone.  The Women's Union organizations should educate and lead the women's unionists to have civilized and noble cultural and moral traits. The women's unionists and other women should go together hand in hand toward a bright future under the communist slogan "One for All and All for One!" which intensively shows the spiritual and moral traits of our society.  The Women's Union organizations should actively organize and mobilize all the women's unionists to a proud patriotic work for exalting the era of our state-first principle.  They should help the women's unionists devote all their affection and energies to educating their children in a revolutionary way. The women's unionists and other women should never forget that educating their children properly is not only an issue of succeeding to a family, but the noblest revolutionary work of bringing up the successors to shoulder the future of the revolution.  It is the most important policy and greatest desire of our Party and state to provide our children with better conditions for bringing them up. The Women's Union should keep deep in heart the intention of the Party which took special measures for our children at the Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee and pay special concern to improving the work of nurseries and kindergartens and enabling the nursery school and kindergarten teachers to devote themselves to the nursing and upbringing of children with the parental love and affection.  The Socialist Women's Union of Korea should creditably perform its historic mission and duty for the times and revolution. To this end, it is necessary to enhance the militancy of the Women's Union organizations in every way. Today the period of new upsurge and transformation of the Korean revolution calls upon the entire women's unionists to powerfully push the great change of the times with the strong spirit and patriotic devotion of the Korean women.  I firmly believe that the participants in the congress and the Women's Union organizations would substantially improve the work of the union in line with the demand of the developing revolution and thus rally the women's unionists more firmly behind the Party and forcefully arouse them to the struggle for socialist construction to fully demonstrate the might of the Women's Union, he noted.
