An enlarged meeting of the South Hamgyong Provincial Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea was called on August 5 according to the instruction of the Central Military Commission of the Party.

Present at the meeting were members of the Provincial Party Military Commission, chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees, leading Party and administrative officials of the provincial-level organs and major industrial establishments, officials concerned in the fields of construction and designing and military and political cadres of units of the People's Army stationed in the province.

Ri Jong Nam, Chief Secretary of the South Hamgyong Provincial Committee of the WPK, conveyed the instruction of the Central Military Commission of the Party.

It was mentioned at the meeting that being briefed on the damages by downpour in South Hamgyong Province, General Secretary Kim Jong Un had indicated a specific orientation and ways for damage rehabilitation on several occasions and taken measures to supply materials badly needed for rehabilitation.

It was also stressed that in particular, he had put forward an important task for the chief secretaries of the city and county Party committees to pay primary attention to the living of the inhabitants in the afflicted areas and strengthen the party work, the work with people, at such a hard time as now to more firmly rally the broad masses behind the Party and given instructions on awakening and inspiring the officials and organizations of the city and county Party committees to launch a skilful and persistent campaign for damage rehabilitation.

At the meeting, the details of the damages in the province were informed and specific measures taken to thoroughly implement the instructions of the Central Military Commission of the WPK.

The meeting discussed practical issues such as the formation of the construction force to be dispatched to the regions concerned according to the confirmed scale of damage rehabilitation, precedence to be given to the designing and transportation of materials. It also organized a powerful group for commanding the damage rehabilitation with leading officials of the Party, administrative, public security and state security organs and military and political cadres of the People's Army in the province.

In addition, the meeting discussed issues on taking urgent measures to rapidly stabilize the living of the inhabitants in the disaster-stricken areas, further strengthening the emergency anti-epidemic work and minimizing the crop damages.

It stressed that all the Party organizations, people and service personnel of the People's Army in the province should turn out as one in the damage rehabilitation with the firm conviction that they are sure to win when they give full play to the might of single-minded unity around the Party Central Committee and that of the army-people unity no matter how fierce the natural fury may be and whatever challenges and trials may stand in their way.

The enlarged meeting of the South Hamgyong Provincial Military Commission of the WPK adopted with a unanimous approval a decision on finishing the damage rehabilitation until the founding anniversary of the Party with the strength of the great army-people unity, deeply bearing in mind the people-first idea of the Party.
