Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of different sectors in South Phyongan Province.
Looking round the fields of electric power, coal and machine industries, railway transport, building materials industry and agriculture, he encouraged the officials and working people in their efforts to implement the decisions of the Party Congress and Party plenary meetings.
After learning about the work of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex and the Tokchon Area Coal-Mining Complex, he took practical measures to readjust and reinforce the production bases and put production thoroughly on the basis of modern science and technology and discussed the issue on expanding storing capacity of the Inpho Youth Coal Mine.
He stressed the need for the Sungni Motor Complex to raise the quality of rolling machines, for the Pukchang Railway Branch Station to decisively improve the transportation of coal for the thermal power stations and for the Sunchon Cement Complex to increase production and expand its capacity.
Discussed at the consultative meetings held on the spot were the issues on improving the economic operation, command and management of officials in accordance with the actual demand, strengthening close cooperation with units concerned and paying deep concern to the supply service for the employees.
Kim Tok Hun grasped the present state of farming and measures to protect damage from flood and wind in different farms in Pukchang County and Tokchon City and discussed the ways to produce the essential medicines at the Sunchon Pharmaceutical Factory.
On the other hand, he visited the Posan Iron Works and stressed the need to decisively increase the Juche Iron production. He also reviewed the building work at the construction site of 10,000 flats in Pyongyang city and supply of equipment and materials by the ministries and national agencies and took measures for the next stage project.
