Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- With the approach of the day of national liberation (August 15, 1945) from Japan's colonial rule, people in the DPRK are recollecting with deep emotion the undying feats of President Kim Il Sung who led the attack operation for the final decisive battle against the Japanese imperialists to victory.
On August 9, Juche 34 (1945), Kim Il Sung ordered the units of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) to launch a general attack operation for national liberation.
Thus, the KPRA and all the people turned out in the scared war to liberate their homeland with strong determination to annihilate the enemy.
KPRA units, which were marshaled in the Kanbaeksan Secret Camp, one of the secret bases built in the area of Mt Paektu, advanced towards Kilju, Pukchong, Sinhung and Kanggye of the homeland to wage battles for putting provinces under their control together with small units, groups and national resistance organizations in those areas.
Other units of the KPRA liberated various regions of Manchuria in China and crossed the River Tuman in pursuit of the retreating enemy. And the units which rendezvoused in the areas along the River Tuman destroyed the enemy fortresses along the border line on August 9 to advance into the homeland.
In response to the final attack operation of the KPRA, the people's armed units and armed resistance organizations in the homeland attacked the Japanese troops, military policemen, police stations, provincial offices and other ruling organs of the Japanese imperialists.
The fierce attack of the KPRA and brisk activities of all-people resistance organizations for harassing the enemy's rear brought down the ruling system of the Japanese imperialists in a week.
In those days, the President led the final attack operation for annihilating the Japanese imperialists and liberating the homeland to victory with his outstanding commanding art and revolutionary drive.
The Japanese imperialists surrendered at discretion on August 15.
Finally, the anti-Japanese revolutionary war led by Kim Il Sung ended with the victory of the Korean people and the historic cause of national liberation desired by them was accomplished.
