It is the eternal state policy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to constantly develop the public health services.

Recently, a number of medical service centres for different treatments have been built in the capital city Pyongyang alone, making an active contribution to the improvement of the people's health.

All the medical service centres are associated with the devoted efforts of the respected Kim Jong Un who called at the construction sites many a time to indicate the orientations and ways and even named them.

A ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the Pyongyang General Hospital was held in the presence of Kim Jong Un on March 17, Juche 109(2020).

Senior official Kim Chol Hyang at the Ministry of Public Health says:

"That day, the respected Kim Jong Un said ophthalmic, dental and other specialized hospitals and children's hospital have been built, but we cannot be satisfied with these successes as they are only grains of sand in a mountain when compared to the lofty ideals and ambitions of our Party.

His instructions imply his sincerity for the improvement of the people's health, I think.

I accepted them as his request that our medical workers should make efforts for the people to receive the medical benefits of the state equally and directly, conscious that we should shoulder the destiny of the socialist public health system."

Preventive and curative organs were face-lifted in all parts of the country including the provincial, city and county people's hospitals.

A great progress was also made in the pharmaceutical and medical appliances field.

On September 30, Juche 104(2015) Kim Jong Un visited the Jongsong General Pharmaceutical Factory in the wake of his visit in November of the previous year.

That day, he emphasized the importance of the factory in the pharmaceutical industry of the country and earnestly called for normalizing the production of various kinds of medicines necessary for the promotion of the people's health, and treatment and prevention of diseases.

He also said we should make sure that the people feel how good the socialist system is really in the social benefits like the socialist public health system, not by advertisement. Thanks to his efforts, the Medical Oxygen Factory was built into a modern medical oxygen producer. A number of pharmaceutical and medical appliances factories including the Pyongyang Pharmaceutical Factory, the Taedonggang Syringe Factory, the Myohyangsan Medical Appliances Factory and the Pyongyang Electronic Medical Appliances Factory were rebuilt on a modern basis and the Huichon Hospital Bed Factory changed into a peculiar medical furnishings producer.
