Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of different sectors of the national economy.
He said the September Textile Mill, the Kanggye Pencil Factory and the Jonchon Match Factory should bring about innovations in the production of consumer goods for the people's livelihood by pushing ahead with the work to expand their capacity, modernize the production processes and improve the performance of the equipment.
Making the rounds of the Jonchon Rock-Drill Factory, the Huichon Precision Machine Factory and the Myohyangsan Medical Appliances Factory, he stressed the need to develop a lot of efficient machines of Korean style to positively propel the economic development of the country and make a greater number of modern medical equipment and appliances.
At the Hyangsan County Breed-Fish Farm and the Kaechon City Station for Stocking Lake Yonphung with Fishes, he took measures to conduct brisk cage-net fish culture in the waters near the dams of power stations built along the River Chongchon and speed up the construction of different fishponds including the mandarin fish breeding pond.
The consultative meetings held on the spot discussed issues on further enhancing the responsibility and role of the officials in the field of light industry and preferentially supplying the materials needed for the production of consumer goods at relevant units, on conducting the business activities actively and creatively to expand and develop the production and putting the fish farming on a highly scientific and intensive basis.
Kim Tok Hun also acquainted himself with the management of the Ryongnim Dam of the Huichon Power Station and Unit 7 of the Huichon Power Station and discussed measures on some problems.
