The theme for this year’s World Standards Day (October 14) is “Shared Vision for a Better World”.
In order to successfully reach the Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the UN with a view to addressing social inequality, developing a sustainable economy and slowing the rate of climate change, it is necessary for many public and private partners to use all available tools.
In this pursuit, standards are more relevant than ever.
The International Standards Organization (ISO) calls upon all member nations to closely cooperate with the ISO, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and have a shared vision on standardization.
It is the consistent principle of the DPRK for its standardization project to ensure sustainable economic development, provide its people with better living conditions and convenience in their material and cultural life and contribute to promoting their health.
This year alone, it worked out tens of national standards for afforestation and environmental protection of the country in order to positively contribute to protecting the people’s lives and property and the precious resources of the country from disastrous abnormal weather.
In particular, it made sure that the standardization plays an important role in conducting the land administration and environmental protection in a scientific way by systematizing the standards for air, water and soil examination methods.
It also set many national standards for putting medical service on an IT footing and evaluating the quality of medical service system to ensure that the people enjoy better medical benefits.
It is the invariable goal of the DPRK for its standardization project to achieve continuous progress and innovations in all fields of society, the economy and environment to make sure that the people enjoy affluent and civilized life in good health.
