In the stirring period, when a dynamic struggle is being waged for the rejuvenation of our state, excellent young men and women volunteered to work in the difficult and challenging sectors of socialist construction.

After the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party Korea held in January last, the young people across the country turned out as one to implement the tasks set forth at the Party Congress and thousands of them volunteered to work in the difficult and challenging sectors only in a few months.

The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, highly praised it as a heroic deed of going to the front in wartime and blocking an enemy pillbox without hesitation.

Elated by his deep trust, more and more young people volunteered to work in difficult sectors.

Though their native homes and the dreams they nurtured in their minds are different, they, with the same dream and ideal of supporting the Party's intention, have settled in the workplaces, to which others do not dare to go, and in other places strange to them.

The volunteers amounted to over 10,000 for eight months.

August 28 this year was the 30th anniversary of the Youth Day. Celebrations of the Youth Day were grandly held in the capital city Pyongyang amid the concern and blessing of the whole country.

Kim Jong Un sent a letter of congratulations to the young people who volunteered to work in the difficult and challenging sectors of socialist construction on the occasion of the Youth Day. And on August 30, he met some of them.

Shaking hands with each of them, he highly appreciated their deeds and spiritual world.

He said: Many young people faithful to the call of the Party and the revolution are produced, which is an expression of the advantages of our socialist system and a manifestation of the noble view of life and future of our youth. It is the greatest pride, asset and wealth of a party making revolution which cannot be compared with anything to have its reliable successors, reserves and promising youngsters.

That day, he earnestly told that the young people should become a spark of struggle and prairie fire everywhere and youth heroes and heroines devoting themselves to prosperity and progress of the country with patriotism.

The Korean young people are faithful to the call of the country and to the society and collective and make strenuous efforts for the future.

To look back, every upsurge of the Korean revolution has begun with the sweeping enthusiasm of the young people for volunteering, and this enthusiasm has always given rise to a revolutionary and patriotic zeal, resulting in a stirring era.
