Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected key industrial establishments in North and South Hamgyong Provinces.
After looking round the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and the Chongjin Steel Works, he stressed the need for the iron and steel works to manage the equipment in a scientific way, push ahead with the intensification of the production processes and accelerate the construction of energy-saving iron-making furnaces for sustainable growth in production.
He learned about the production at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the February 8 Vinalon Complex and the Chongjin Chemical Fibre Mill and underscored the need to powerfully promote the technical modernization by strengthening their own technical forces and to produce and supply sufficient amount of basic chemicals needed for different fields of the national economy including agriculture, light industry and pharmaceutical industry.
Going round the Jangjingang Power Station, he said the reinforcement of hydraulic structures and the overhaul of generators should be carried out qualitatively and water secured properly to ensure the stable electric power production.
The consultative meetings held on the spot emphasized that it is important for North and South Hamgyong and other industrial provinces to turn out to thoroughly implement the important tasks outlined in the administrative policies of the DPRK government and that the officials, in particular, should further enhance their responsibility and role for the purpose.
Meanwhile, Premier Kim acquainted himself with the farming in Kumya County, the modernization of grain processing line at the Kowon County Food Administration Office and the rehabilitation of flood damage in Sinhung County.
